Pioneer Day — Days of '47 Parade
Utah's biggest celebration of the year. The Days of '47 Parade marches through downtown SLC with floats, marching bands, and community entries. Families line the route the night before to claim spots — it's a true Utah tradition and the heart of Pioneer Day.

Five nights of professional PRCA rodeo — bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and more. The Fun Zone opens at 5:00 PM with a mechanical bull, petting zoo, food trucks, and live music. Tickets start around $35.

Pioneer Day (July 24th) is Utah's signature holiday — a statewide celebration with parades, rodeos, concerts, and fireworks. If you're new to the Wasatch Front, this is the best introduction to Utah culture and community you'll find all year.
Days of '47 Parade
The main event. Utah's largest parade kicks off at 9:00 AM on South Temple in Salt Lake City. Floats, marching bands, and community groups make their way through downtown in a tradition that dates back over 170 years.

- Route: South Temple through downtown SLC
- Tip: Families line up the night before to claim spots — arrive early or stake out a spot on July 23rd
Rodeos & Community Celebrations
Pioneer Day week is packed with rodeos across the Wasatch Front. Whether you catch the professional PRCA action in Salt Lake City or the community rodeo in Spanish Fork, it's an authentic Utah experience.

New to Utah? What to Know
Pioneer Day is a state holiday in Utah — many businesses close, offices shut down, and the entire community comes out to celebrate. It's one of the things that makes Utah unique.
- Expect crowds: Downtown SLC and parade routes get packed — plan parking and transportation ahead of time
- Check local fireworks rules: Public displays are the best way to enjoy the show — check your city's website for official display times and locations
- Make it a day: Pair the parade with a rodeo, a food truck stop, or a trail hike to make the most of the holiday

American Fork Canyon
Crystal-clear alpine water perfect for swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking just 30 minutes from the Salt Lake Valley. Peak summer is the best time to visit — bring a cooler and make it a full day in the canyon.
Draper Trail System
Draper
Over 100 miles of interconnected trails for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running. The Corner Canyon and BST networks are local favorites with varying difficulty levels. Trails are dry and in great shape for July adventures.
Timpanogos Cave National Monument
American Fork Canyon
A guided tour through three spectacular limestone caves with stunning formations, including the famous 45-foot Helictite. Reservations are strongly recommended during peak summer — book early for this unforgettable underground experience.
Jordanelle State Park
Heber Valley
Boating, fishing, paddleboarding, and camping just 45 minutes from the Salt Lake Valley. July is peak season here — warm water, open campgrounds, and some of the best water recreation in the area.
